Adverse Effects Of Delayed Pregnancy

In today’s time women’s are becoming more career oriented. This is having negative impact on woman’s health. The count of women who facing delaying pregnancy is raising in Canada. There are many complications which women face due to delayed pregnancy like diabetes, hypertension, premature birth of a child etc.

There is lot of risk involved in the birth of child to a mother of age of 35. The ratio in Canada is 1:5 of mothers who give birth in the age of 35. It means that one out of five births of child from a mother of age 35.

There is more risk involved with the mothers who are more than the age of 40. They are at three times serious risk. The babies to such mother can face more serious problems like Chromosomal Disorders. Canadian Institute for Health Information warned in the released report on Thursday.

It’s really surprising the adversity of the risk in late pregnancy. Kathleen Morris, CIHI- the director of health system analysis told that it’s becoming common these days as many moms are of age of over 40. And the growing risk is really surprising.

There is the first study on large scale that is the three year project in which the risk will be quantify of the babies face of older moms.

Around 10 lakhs hospital were examined from 2006 to 2007 and from 2008 to 2009 across Canada. The ages of the mother who gave births ranges from 20 – 60. And the mothers who were of the age 35 that range approximately 20%.

According to the study it was found that the mothers who older than 35 had the gestational diabetes double than the mothers who aged less than 34. The blood sugar levels were also very high. And mother who aged more than 40 the adversity of the complication were thrice than in the mother of less age. The range of mothers who were contracting the complication ranges one in eight in the group of older mothers.

According to the Morris, the half of the third part of the mothers with gestational diabetes develops type 2 diabetes.

Morris told that this adversely effects on mother’s health because it is a chronic disease and it last lifelong. He notifies one more thing that the babies carried by these mothers are heavier than others and it leads to complications in delivery.

Dr. Mark Walker, a scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and a professor at University of Ottawa told that it also appeared as a severe ailment to such women.

He told one more thing that pregnancy is itself a stress test to the women’s body as she grows older and at greater risk. And if you have such condition so better be aware of it.
