Introdruction to hair loss
Almost 100 hairs of any person are lost every day. That is normal and in most people those hairs grow back. But many men, and some women, lose hair as they age. You can also lose it if you suffer from certain diseases, such as thyroid problems, diabetes or lupus. If you take certain medicines or are undergoing cancer chemotherapy, you may also lose hair. Other causes are stress, a low-protein diet, family history or poor nutrition.
General description of hair loss
Hair loss affects only the scalp and the entire body in some cases. It can be a consequence of hereditary factors, hormonal changes, a disease or medications. Anyone can have hair loss, but it is more common in men.
Usually, baldness refers to excessive hair loss from the scalp. The most common cause of baldness is the hereditary factor along with age. Some people prefer to let baldness run its course without treating or trying to hide it. Others can cover it with hairstyles, makeup, hats or scarves.
Before starting a treatment for hair loss, talk to the doctor about the cause and about the best treatment options.

Causes
People usually lose about 100 hair a day. This does not usually cause hair loss on the scalp because, at the same time, new hair grows. Hair loss occurs when the cycle of hair growth and loss is altered or when the hair follicle is destroyed and replaced with scar tissue.
Hair loss is mostly happens due to the following factors
Family history (genetic predisposition). The most common cause of hair loss is an inherited disorder called male pattern baldness or female pattern baldness. It tends to appear gradually as it ages and in predictable patterns: a receding hairline and balding areas among men, and reduced hair thickness among women.
Hormonal changes and medical disorders. Several disorders can cause temporary or permanent hair loss, which include hormonal changes in pregnancy, childbirth, menopause and thyroid problems. Medical disorders include alopecia areata, which causes patchy hair loss, scalp infections such as ringworm, and a hair pulling disorder called trichotillomania.
Medications and supplements

Before establishing a diagnosis, the doctor will probably do a physical exam and ask you about your medical history and family history. It can also perform tests, such as the following:
Blood test. It can help to discover the diseases related to hair loss.
Tensile test The physicians pulls several hairs to see how many hairs come out. This helps to determine the stage of the detachment process.
Biopsy of the scalp. He takes samples of skin or few hair pulled from the scalp to analyse the roots of the hair. This can help determine if what is causing hair loss is an infection.
Optical microscopy. The biomedical technique "Microscopy" helps to know the possible disorders of the hair shaft.
