What to get for the delivery and labor

If you are having your delivery in a hospital then you will number of necessary things along with you, so that you mange and the labor and also take care of the new born and yourself both. Basically all this should be gathered before the actual time come i.e. you have to be prepared one month prior before the delivery time just in case the child comes early.

Checklist of things you need to pack


·         A tiny bag as they don’t occupy much space.
·         Two nightgowns or wear the hospital nightgown if comfortable.
·         A comfy home outfit & pair of shoes.
·       All in one quantity: nightgown, slippers and bathrobe, and 2 to 3 pair of socks as the new born and you will stay in the hospital for at least 3 days.
·       Breast pads, nursing bra, sanitary napkins, maternity underwear and nipple cream. (Note: You need not worry if you don’t know how to breast feed, the nurse will help you to breast feed the baby)
·        Bathroom accessories such as toothpaste, toothbrush, hair brush, shampoo, lotion, soap or body wash deodorant and lip balm.
·      You will not be allowed to drink or eat anything at the time of labor and delivery except ice chips. Consider taking an exercise water bottle or even a spray bottle can do at the time of labor and delivery.
·            You might not be in a mood of listening to music (not even favorite track) or read your favorite novel but labor sometime takes long time like up to 24 hours. So might want to consider taking at least one of them with you.
·              Write down all these points and then gather all of it in a backpack and keep it there, where it can be easily accessible and seen. So at the time when the pain starts, your partner just needs to seize the backpack and move to hospital.

Checklist for the labor partner


·         Carry some lose cash and some notes for vending machines, phone calls food, cab, etc.
·         Some comfortable clothes.
·         A camcorder or camera for capturing those priceless moments in pictures. (don’t forget to carry extra batteries or charge them)
·         Carry some books, gadget and magazines so that your partner doesn’t get bored.
·         Lists of phone numbers so that you can call friends and family, also don’t forget to take your cell.
·         Basic bathroom accessories like mentioned above like toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, soap and deodorant

Few extra things to pack for the new born


·         Baby car seat
·         Two onsides, a new born hat, mittens and socks
·         Burp cloth
·         Pacifier
·         Home going outfit according to the weather condition
·         Two receiving blankets
·         Diapers, diaper bag, changing pad and wipes of the new born size.
·         Plastic bags for disposing dirty diapers
·         Nipples, baby bottles if bottle-feeding

Other checklist

·         The birth plan
·         Check book, credit cards, insurance cards
·         Address book for phone numbers
·         Hospital telephone number, address and preregistration paper work.
